YCBA Scholarship
We provide scholarships based upon our donations. The purpose of these scholarships is to provide financial assistance to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning individuals so they can go to school to reach their full potential. The scholarship is also available to individuals who identify as straight and help advocate for the LGBTQ community.
Eligibility Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must be at least eighteen years old at time of application
- Be enrolled in an accredited college or university
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Be a recognized role model within your community
- Identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, or a
straight ally - Have not previously been awarded the scholarship
Evaluation Criteria
Each application will be evaluated on a 100 total point scale. The following is a breakdown of the possible points:
- History of promoting acceptance for the LGBTQ community – 35 points
- Amount of community involvement – 25 points
- Evaluation of personal essay – 40 points
Required Documentation
- Completed application
- Copy of your high school diploma or equivalent
- Documentation showing your GPA
- Acceptance letter or statement from your college or university proving your enrollment as a student
- List or essay explaining your work to promote acceptance for the LGBTQ community
- List of community service hours
- Two letters of recommendation
- Essay explaining why you deserve this scholarship
(500-1000 words, typed, double spaced, 1 inch margins)
