Say 'Hello' to the handsome gay star who directed Adele's new music video

Openly gay actor/director Xavier Dolan is the man behind the video for Adele’s dramatic new single, Hello.

Dolan has previously directed acclaimed films that deal with LGBTI issues, such as trans drama Laurence Anyways and thriller Tom At the Farm.

As an actor, the 26-year-old has also appeared in films such as Good Neighbours and Elephant Song.

He told Newsbeat: ‘She approached me after having seen some of my movies. She’s on a scale of fame and her career is so overwhelmingly wonderful. I’m just standing somewhere else. That she would reach out to me was baffling to me. I was really flattered and humbled but I couldn’t believe it.’

Hello is taken from Adele’s upcoming album, 25. Her last album, 21, sold over 30 million copies around the world.

The brooding clip, was filmed in Montreal, sees Adele united with an ex-lover and wandering a desolate forest – watch it below!
