In this heartwarming talk of personal revelation, Allyson challenges the typical childhood encouragement of "You can be anything you want to be" to probe the social creation of "forbidden identities" and what it means to become one of those identities.

As the first Deputy Director for Employee Programs of the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Workplace Project, Allyson Robinson drives the design and delivery of HRC's broad portfolio of training and curricula for corporate and non-profit audiences to improve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) cultural competence and inclusion in the workplace. She is a graduate of West Point and has commanded PATRIOT missile units in the United States, Germany and Saudi Arabia; worked as a senior trainer/evaluator for NATO as well as an advisor to the armed forces of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar; and also, has served as a pastor-teacher to churches in the Portuguese Azores and central Texas.

TEDxTeachersCollege 2012 explored innovations in international education at Teachers College, Columbia University, one of the leading schools of education in the world.
